Great news – the Society of Construction Law for Africa (SCLA) has set up a series of events for 2024. Hosted online, the events cover a range of matters that should be of interest to anyone involved in construction and law. Director, Damian will be hosting the sessions on zoom.
The SCL event line-up at present includes:
- 29 February 2024 – Join Philip Norman of law firm, CMS for a look at the latest amendments to the 2017 FIDIC contracts.
- 21 March 2024 – Professor Emilia Onyema of SOAS, University of London looks at the practice and development of arbitration.
- 25 April 2024 – Diana Burger of Bowmans will look at Dispute Adjudication Boards. She will answer the following question. DABs with different skill sets ensure a properly reasoned outcome, in the interest of both parties. Due to the expensive nature of a 3-member DAB, parties generally agree on one adjudicator or arbitrator. The individual is usually an advocate, is this always in the parties’ best interest?
- 27 June 2024 – Join advocate, Marcia Davids for a look at “Who shoulders the risk of climate change in the world of changing climate?
