Damian James has taken on the first two of our four mentees for 2022/23. They will spend the coming months finding out more about the world of claims, disputes and the role of experts. We’ll be sharing with them the benefit of our experience, and introducing them to the field of construction dispute resolution.

The first two mentees are Seloane Percy Makgoba and Yahaya Isah Abdulrasheed

Percy describes himself as an ambitious person who believes in the power of lifelong learning. Percy’s currently studying towards a construction diploma in adjudication with RICS. He has a Bachelor of Commerce in Law with the University of South Africa.

Percy Makgoba

Percy is currently a Senior Mechanical Artisan at Sasol Synfuels. His experience includes the construction and maintenance of engineering plants, both as a quality controller and artisan. Percy’s lifelong ambition is to specialize in engineering and construction law which may include adjudication and drafting of construction and engineering contracts.

Yahaya Isah Abdulrasheed

Yahaya is a dynamic lawyer who is admitted to practice in Nigeria and has a broad knowledge of the Nigerian legal system. He has considerable experience and specialized training in various fields of law. Yahaya also has broad experience in various aspects of lawyering skills.

He has at various times acted as an advocate, a solicitor and also as Arbitrator. He has considerable experience locally and internationally in dispute resolution and complex transactions. Yahaya has advised various public and private sector clients. He has also represented various clients ranging from individuals, corporates and government agencies before various courts in Nigeria and arbitral tribunals.

Yahaya has particular and keen interest in Arbitration. He’s an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK and has membership of various arbitration institutions.
