We are excited to welcome the two new mentees joining our 2022/23 program. Both Tshephisi Selahloa and Marcia Davids have extensive experience in their fields. In their next few months with Damian James, they will be learning more about disputes, claims, and the role of experts. As mentees, we will be giving them the full benefit of our own experience.

Marcia Davids

Starting off by completing an LLB at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Marcia moved on to do her LLM at the University of Pretoria. She is now pursuing her PhD at the same University.

Marcia is well-versed in many fields of law, but her interests are Sports Law, Aviation Law, and Building and Construction Law. She has worked with the Department of Environmental Affairs and the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development in South Africa.

Her interest in the green agenda, particularly in construction, fits well alongside her interest in the environmental sector. Marcia has a keen interest in vertical farming, water conservation, and renewable energy.

She is currently a member of the board of directors at the Biodiversity Law Centre. Marcia has also been an advocate of the High Court of South Africa since she was admitted in 2006. Alongside this, she became a member of the Pretoria, Mpumalanga, and Polokwane Society of Advocates in 2022.

Tshephisi Selahloa

Tshephisi has a broad background in both the construction and mechanical industries. He is an expert in project management, cost engineering, and commercial claims.

He holds qualifications in mechanical engineering from the Vaal University of Technology and project management from the Tshwane University of Technology. Tshephisi also has a professional registration (PMP) in project management.

His specialism is in the FMCG, mining, power generation, and petrochemical sectors. Tshephisi has undertaken a variety of roles such as planner, senior estimator, and quantity surveyor. He previously worked for KAEFER before landing a job as a quantity surveyor at Southey Contracting. Tshephisi has also worked with different contracts including NEC, FIDIC, and GCC.
